Day 5: Do you believe nature (biology/physiology), nurture (environment), a mix, or something else has an impact on mental health?
In my personal (non-professional, biased, unstudied, and unproven) belief, I feel that a mix of the above contributes to one’s mental health. I can really only speak from my own feelings, experiences and reading but much of what I have come to understand is that certain mental capacities and deficiencies are biological. For me; these are depression and anxiety. Environment and trauma has contributed to these and also created/exacerbated other illnesses diagnosed (OCD and PTSD). Hopefully, now that these have been identified, environment and treatment can decrease the impact of these on my day to day.
